Senator Warner’s Town Hall and rude liberals

I attended Senator Mark Warner’s town hall in fredericksburg tonight, Mr. Warner did a horrible job of answering question, though he did agree with Conservatives that there is a need for tort reform. Towards the end he blamed the deficit on former President Bush.  While George W. Bush does hold some blame for the deficit, the Democrats Mark Warner’s party has had control of both houses of Congress since 2006. I did notice that conservatives that asked question were not allowed at much speaking time as the few liberals who were called. Also, organizing for America, and the union were represented there, in Virginia a non-union state, the union folks had come in from West Virginia. Also the organizing for America crowd looked like they were either homeless, or under 18, I wonder if the Stimulus bill payed for that.

I also noticed a certain rudeness from pro-health care and clean energy jobs supporters at the event.  At the beginning of the event Sen. Warner told all attendees to not hole up there signs as to block the view of those who were behind and to be respectful of other views. Well I had a fun experience when four clean energy jobs supporters stood in front of me with there signs, I asked them nicely to move and was then told f**k you, an argument started and they ending up moving to the back of the expo center. My brother Timothy Watson author of I’m Surrounded By Idiots then moved to the middle row in front of the stage and had a pro health care backer come behind us yelling yes to single payer, and screaming at all of the opponents of Obama’s health care plan. Towards the end of the town hall three pro health care supporters were leaving and told me and my brother we can have our country with all our freaks, well i wish they would follow that motto and just leave and stop destroying the country.

Are you still praying for me?

I just saw that you are a (presumably healthy) 27 year old male. It’s not surprising that we have such differing views of things. I’m sorry you feel that Medicare and Social Security will not be there for you–these programs have been raided by both parties for too long and reform is needed there too.
We agree on more things than you realize. As an active patient, I don’t think waiting for treatment is a good thing. As I said, both sides can come up with plenty of scary anecdotes and deny or ignore those of the other side. Trading anecdotes will do nothing to help the situation.
I also have no reason to defend the Canadian and British health care systems. The plan being proposed does not resemble either of those systems. The proposed plan revises our system so that there is more security for those, like me, who contract a serious illness or have a serious accident. It also attempts to rein in soaring health care costs that are a large part of the reason you and your peers believe Medicare won’t be there. Let’s do something now so it is there for you, and so I live long enough to get on it!

I answered all of your questions, though you answered none of mine, the government wants to reduce the cost of health care, the only way to do that is ration care, like in the 6 articles I listed, one from the United States and 5 from Britain and Canada. Here is another example do you you want to wait for healthcare like your sitting in a DMV, that will happen as well in Canada, you have to wait up to 6 moths to see a regular doctor, then another 4 to 6 for a specialist, then 4 to 6 more to start chemo, if you had cancer, thats 18 months, these are facts about what government ran healthcare is like, but there are those who chose to believe that the government can fix everything, when in reality everything the government touches it destroys. Also, the republicans only had 6 years to fix anything, the dems controlled congress for 2 of those years. They also had 8 years under Clinton to do something, and didn’t.

  • Karen Christensen Says:

oops correction: HAD eight years. Be well

  • Karen Christensen Says:

    You didn’t answer my question.

Unfortunately there are plenty of scary anecdotes pertaining to health care, both government-run and private. Each side can come up with their own scary anecdotes and ignore or deny those on the other side.

I think it is better to rely on facts and on one’s own experience.

Just wanted to plant the seed that there are plenty of hard-working religious Americans out here who see the writing on the wall. Our current system is not sustainable; the Republicans have 8 years to fix it. Now I’m willing to give the Democrats a shot. I thought Mark Warner made sense.

Medicare is broke, I am 27 I will never see that or social security because of the democrats refusal to reform either program over the last 8 years. As far as the chemotherapy being denied, it has happened in Oregon, which has state ran government health care, Canada which has government health care, and England, check out the links.

SO do you want a government who can not run a cash for clunkers program controlling your health care? Or one who has a medical advisor, Ezekiel Emmanuel, who says 2 year old can be aborted because they do not know there is a tomorrow??

  • Karen Christensen Says:

    thank you for your prayers.

\if you were in a government controlled health care system, you would not be given Chemotherapy to help\

evidence, please. Examples of government controlled systems include Medicare and VA Tricare. They do not deny chemotherapy.

    I agree about tort reform.

    I agree about portability.

Both of these need to be addressed. Portability is addressed in the current bill, unfortunately tort reform is not.

I just have one question for you–since you are determined to deny me even the option of government-run health care, will you walk your talk and renounce any government-run health care you may be entitled to, including Medicare?

  • Garrett Watson Says:

I am sorry about your situation and I pray for you, but if you were in a government controlled health care system, you would not be given Chemotherapy to help, so how is a government controlled system going to help you?

The liberals are in the hip pocket of trial lawyers who are the main reason for the increase of health care, so why do they stop unnecessary lawsuits that make doctors prices increase because they have to pay more for malpractice lawsuit.

Third the liberals have disallowed the portability of insurance between jobs and across state lines, which disallows competition, when there is competition, prices go down, that is how a capitalist country works. The Government destroys everything it touches, I do not want the government to touch my health care and if they got out of any involvement in it prices would go down, more government control will turn the greatest health care system into a third world country’s system.

One more thing, if you cannot afford drugs all drug companies provide programs that will give free drugs to those who need them if they do not have insurance.

I am a self-employed hard-working Virginian struggling with breast cancer. I could be your wife or your daughter. Your party had eight years to do something to help me and others in my situation. Nothing was done. Please quit trying to stop some simple common sense reforms that could save my life and the lives of others like me. I’m begging you in the name of human decency.
